B & B fisHerman in Killaloe

Our Bed & Breakfast FisHerman where you will stay during the whole period is located in the centre of historical Killaloe in County Clare only one minute walk distance from the river Shannon.

Herman renovated the building completely in 2003 and matched perfectly the Antique with the Modern.

It has 4 rooms.
Each with 2 beds, ensuite bathroom with shower and independent heating.

On the ground floor there is a Coffee Room where breakfast is served and where you can chat while having a cold or hot drink after your excursion or fishing tour on Lough Derg.

Beside that, Herman has his Lures and Tackle shop where anglers will find everything to complete their Pike and Trout Fishing Adventures.

A super cosy town

Killaloe is famous and well visited also by the Irish themselves for the many cosy pubs and restaurants.

Also Ballina on the other side of the bridge offers lots of nice pubs, restaurants and shops.

Plenty of entertainment the whole year round!

A bit of Killaloe's history

Killaloe was the capital of Ireland in the 11th century. It was the hometown of Brian Boru who in 1002 was High King of Ireland and transformed Killaloe to the centre of his power.
The traces of his reign in and around Killaloe are still reflected in the form of ruins and buildings.

The Brian Boru Heritage Centre in Killaloe is totally dedicated to his life.

Also from later periods, there are structures that characterize Killaloe historically.

There is the St. Flannan's Cathedral (1182) and the old bridge (1770) over the Shannon to the neighbouring village of Ballina, both in Romanesque style.

Beside the church there is the St. Lua Oratory which was originally built around the year 1000 on St. Friar's Island but moved to Killaloe in 1929.
